Clinical Expertise
Alex Messier is a licensed massage therapist and clinical bodywork specialist with over 11 years of practice focused exclusively on structural dysfunction, chronic pain, and neuromuscular rehabilitation. His work is grounded in neurosomatic therapy — a systematic, assessment-driven approach that identifies the postural and structural compensation patterns driving a patient's pain rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
Alex's clinical training includes direct mentorship under two of the most influential figures in structural and neuromuscular bodywork. He studied under Paul St. John — the founder of Neurosomatic Therapy and developer of the St. John Method of Neuromuscular Therapy — receiving foundational and advanced instruction in the methodology that defines his clinical approach. He also completed advanced training in Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques under Erik Dalton, whose framework for addressing spinal dysfunction, cranial imbalance, and extremity compensation patterns remains one of the most rigorous in the field. Training directly under the originators of these methods — not simply completing certification programs — shapes the depth and specificity Alex brings to complex cases.
His experience in integrated medical settings further distinguishes his practice. Alex has worked directly alongside and within the same clinical space as both a medical doctor and a chiropractic physician — an environment that shaped his understanding of co-managed care, clinical communication standards, and the expectations referring providers have for allied practitioners. He brings that same standard of professionalism and coordination to every referral relationship.
Based at Cotee River Massage & Skincare in Port Richey, FL, Alex works with patients managing complex musculoskeletal conditions — including post-surgical recovery, chronic spinal dysfunction, and long-standing soft tissue pathology — where standard intervention has plateaued. His approach to co-management is direct: clear intake documentation, open provider communication, and treatment plans aligned with the referring clinician's goals for the patient.
